Albert Invent Corp., the AI platform designed to transform how the world’s leading chemical and materials companies drive R&D, today announced a growth equity investment from Applied Ventures, LLC, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials, Inc. The strategic growth funding will enable Albert to expand its platform and global footprint as it helps scientists accelerate the discovery and development of new materials and products across industries including energy and semiconductors.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Applied Ventures as we enter the next phase of Albert’s growth,” said Nick Talken, CEO and co-founder of Albert. “This investment will help us accelerate our mission to transform how the world’s most innovative companies discover and develop new materials and products. We’ll use the capital to continue advancing our AI platform, expand globally, and deepen our capabilities across critical industries including chemicals, consumer goods, energy and semiconductors. We’re building Albert to give every scientist the tools to move from idea to breakthrough faster, and this investment brings us another step closer to that vision.”
Commenting on the investment, Abhishek Sud, Senior Investment Director, Applied Ventures, LLC, said, “Albert is aiming to redefine materials R&D by giving scientists AI-powered tools to move from idea to breakthrough faster. We see tremendous opportunity for this technology across industries, including the growing semiconductor ecosystem, where advanced materials innovation will be critical to the next generation of electronic products and manufacturing. Our investment in Albert reflects Applied Ventures’ commitment to backing category-defining technology companies and advancing the capabilities that will shape the future of materials science.”
Mark Saly, Managing Director of the Chemistry Center-of-Excellence (CoE) Group at Applied Materials, said, “Albert’s combination of deep scientific expertise, scientific ontology, and AI can provide a foundational platform for how new materials and products are developed globally. Albert has the potential to accelerate development of technologies underpinning the global semiconductor and electronics ecosystems, where faster materials innovation will be increasingly critical.”
The new funding will be used to expand Albert’s chemistry-native AI capabilities, which are aimed at shortening development cycles and reducing time to market for the everyday products used by billions of people. Albert operates at the intersection of AI and the multitrillion-dollar global chemicals and materials economy, where R&D underpins products spanning consumer goods and coatings to batteries, electronics and semiconductors.
Demand for faster materials innovation is accelerating as companies reformulate products and customer expectations to bring new products to market faster. AI is increasingly becoming a critical part of that R&D process. Albert was built specifically for the complexity of chemistry and materials science, combining chemistry-native AI with the security, governance and scale required by global enterprises, including zero data retention, fine-grained access controls and reasoning audit trails.
